Pharmacy or online: what to check
Compare the exact device and seller before comparing price. A familiar-looking barrel or a low price does not establish that a product matches your prescribed measurement.
At a pharmacy
Ask the pharmacist to check the scale, capacity, graduation, needle gauge and length against your instructions. Ask about NDSS access separately from a private retail purchase.
When ordering online
The TGA says medical devices generally need ARTG inclusion for supply in Australia, with exemptions and exclusions. Ask the seller for the Australian sponsor and applicable ARTG information, and verify rather than relying on a logo or the phrase TGA approved.
Compare the full order
Check pack quantity, sterile packaging, expiry information, delivery cost, returns terms and stock status. A sharps container is not automatically included with a syringe pack: check the contents and arrange a disposal route.
