Insulin Syringes Australia

How to read an insulin syringe

Check the instructions supplied with your actual syringe. Identify its U-100 scale, capacity and the value of each interval before reading the plunger edge nearest the needle.

Ask the dispensing pharmacist to demonstrate

Bring the actual packet or syringe specification. Products sold in Australia can have different line spacing even when their capacity matches. The manufacturer example is a reference; it cannot validate your device or instructions.

Check your scale. An illustration is not a measuring template. If your prescribed amount falls between marked lines, ask your pharmacist or prescriber how to measure it. Do not estimate or round it yourself.

Use the detailed illustrated guide

The full guide to reading a U-100 syringe explains intervals, the plunger edge and measurement limits.

Before buying a replacement

Match the scale and graduation as well as the barrel volume. Read our Australian size checklist and arrange sharps disposal before using supplies.
