Getting syringes through the NDSS
People registered with the NDSS who use insulin can access syringes and pen needles without a co-payment once product access is approved.
Confirm your eligibility
NDSS registration and syringe access are separate steps. Ask your diabetes health professional to confirm your registration and product access rather than assuming every prescription qualifies.
How to arrange access
The NDSS accepts a health-professional-certified access form or a copy of the original prescription when starting insulin. Your professional can submit the form online; follow the current NDSS instructions linked below.
Where to order
After access is approved, order through a local NDSS Access Point. Confirm the product specification and collection arrangements. Retail purchases outside the scheme are separate.
Common questions
